A fresh start for your ongoing care

Whether you have moved, want a more convenient office or are looking for a fresh assessment, we welcome adults and children who already wear Ortho-K. Our transfer process starts by understanding your current treatment and planning the transition with you.

01 / Meet us and plan your transfer

Book a consultation and let the office know you already wear Ortho-K. We review your lens history, eye health, daytime vision and goals. Bring your current lenses, case, care products and any available prescriptions, lens details or corneal maps from your previous provider. We will explain the fitting plan and fees before you proceed.

02 / Wash out the existing Ortho-K effect

Our process includes a supervised break from your current Ortho-K lenses, often called a washout. Because Ortho-K temporarily changes the corneal shape, measurements taken during active wear may not reflect your current untreated prescription. We give you a plan for when to stop and how we will monitor the change. Arrange your consultation before changing your wearing routine.

03 / Use temporary soft lenses during the transition

We provide temporary soft contact lenses to support daytime vision while the Ortho-K effect wears off, after checking that soft lens wear is appropriate for your eyes. Your vision and prescription can change during this period, so the temporary correction may need adjustments. We explain handling, wear and replacement instructions, and discuss an alternative if soft lenses are unsuitable.

04 / Check your current prescription and corneal shape

Once your measurements have stabilized sufficiently, we assess your current prescription and map your corneas again. This gives us a fresh basis for designing your new lenses. We will tell you when to remove temporary soft lenses before measurement visits. Washout timing varies; readiness depends on your eyes and repeat checks, not a fixed number of days.

05 / Design and fit your new Ortho-K lenses

We design new lenses using the updated assessment rather than simply duplicating your previous prescription. Custom lenses typically take about two weeks to arrive after ordering; this is separate from the washout period. At dispensing, we check the fit, review your care routine and arrange follow-ups to assess vision and eye health.

Transferring a child’s myopia-control care

For children, we also review prescription history and the existing myopia-management plan. Temporary standard soft lenses provide vision correction; they should not be assumed to replace the myopia-control effect of treatment. We discuss how to manage the transition and ongoing monitoring for your child.

What to know before booking

Choose Bensonhurst, Park Slope or Bayside, Queens, and tell the office you are transferring existing Ortho-K care. Your consultation is the place to confirm timing, costs and the visits you will need.

  • Bring your current Ortho-K lenses and available treatment records.
  • Plan for a supervised transition rather than an immediate lens swap.
  • Ask how temporary lenses, reassessment and new fitting are included in your quote.
  • Keep follow-up appointments throughout the washout and new fitting.
