01 / Consultation and mapping
We usually begin with a routine eye exam, which is often covered by insurance or can be paid out of pocket. We assess your prescription and eye health, then discuss Ortho-K suitability, corneal mapping and the treatment plan. Confirm your exam coverage and any out-of-pocket cost with the office before your visit.
02 / Your lenses are designed
After the fitting plan is agreed, custom lenses are ordered. They typically take about two weeks to arrive. The office will confirm timing for your particular order.
03 / Learn the routine
At the dispensing visit, you learn insertion, removal, cleaning and storage. Parents should join a child’s teaching session. Start wear only according to the instructions given for your lenses.
04 / Adaptation and follow-up
Vision may change during the early wearing period. Follow-up checks assess the lens fit, eye health and vision; refinements may be needed. Keep backup correction as advised, and attend scheduled visits even when vision feels good.
05 / Ongoing care
Continue the prescribed wearing and care routine, with regular checks and annual renewal. Report discomfort or new changes promptly. Do not skip nights or change care products without guidance.
Before your first consultation
Bring your current glasses, any available past prescriptions, and a list of eye drops or medicines you use. For a child, a parent or guardian should attend. If you already wear contacts or Ortho-K, call ahead for lens-wear instructions and bring your lenses and available records. Choose the office you can return to for follow-up care.
Plan for the adjustment period
Once your custom lenses arrive—usually about two weeks after ordering—we guide you through the first nights and follow-up visits. Vision settles at an individual pace. We’ll help plan backup correction for school, work and other activities while your eyes adapt. Drive only when your vision is clear.
